Elring Klinger develops and produces high-tech components for automotive drive systems. Their team hired Evans to design/build a single-story, manufacturing, warehouse and distribution facility, as well as office space for their new Buford, Georgia location servicing clients like BMW and Mercedes Benz.
The 158,550 square foot (SF) tilt panel building (utilizing structural steel) is segmented by: 63,000 SF manufacturing space, 60,000 SF storage/distribution space, a 23,000 SF office area and 12,550 SF of future production space. The office area is quality controlled and features a material testing lab. The manufacturing/production space required two 45’ long x 25’ wide x 18’ deep pits for plastic injection molding equipment lines, one 24’ long x 15’ wide x 8’ deep pit for heated stamp press equipment line, and a 30-metric ton bridge crane (with a single trolley/single hoist with a 300’ x 60’ runway) to manage the equipment molds. The distribution area has 7 dock positions with a metal canopy, insulated overhead doors and hydraulic levelers.
Additional scope work includes grading, exterior concrete and asphalt paving, 250’ x 150’ x 25’ pit excavated for forming and pouring of equipment pits, site utility Installation, structural steel and metal decking, exhaust fans and louvers, warehouse LED lighting, power for building systems and production equipment, domestic water and sanitary plumbing , TPO roofing system with coping, downspouts and gutters, painting of main structure, as well as full office buildout (drywall, ACT, hard ceilings, plumbing fixtures, floor and wall finishes).
