Friedrich Boysen GmbH & Company partners with many of the world’s leading auto makers by developing, manufacturing and distributing automotive exhaust manifolds, catalytic converters and other components. They have operations in Germany, France, India, China and the United States. Boysen contracted with Evans to design/build their second U.S. based production facility in Brookwood, Alabama.

The 120,000 SF plant sits on a 22 acre lot and is composed of a conventional steel structure with a mechanically fastened TPO roof system. The building’s exterior is wrapped with insulated pre-finished metal panels and curtain wall glazing. Inside the facility, there are production, shipping, and administrative areas, all of which are fully air-conditioned. A high-performance epoxy floor system with reflective qualities was installed to help achieve and maintain lighting levels of 40 FTC. Press pits, fully automated robotic welding units and an automatic storage and retrieval system allow for highly automated processes to be performed throughout the facility including materials manufacturing, raw material storage and finished product shipment. Scope of work included design/build services, complete shell building construction, tenant build-out and a comprehensive site work package.
